We are happy to offer these wonderfully made French and German
bass
bows produced by Arcos Brasil. For those of whom are not
familier with them, they have an incredible workshop in Brazil
(that's we spell it at least!) They are well known throughout the
world for their great workmanship. They have a workhsop of
very skilled staff. For the money, you cannot get a
better 'stick' for their affordability and peformance. With
the new restrictions on Pernambuco wood, these are made with Ipe wood.
Ipe quite remarkably, best suits bass bows: It's dense,
(almost identical to pernambuco) but with its natural density
(weight) makers can get the nice desired weights that players want
and desire, but then at the same time, bend and slim the bow down
nicely so just they play! When you look at them up close, you would be hard
pressed to notice any difference in the natural colors. Ipe is
quite beautiful. The fact is, it's much more plentiful, far
from being endangered and so in the end, super affordable now.

If you click on these photos, you can see the bigger image pages
that we have for you. Check the workmanship and detail to these
bows and the impeccable way they are made. The French bows have the typical
beautiful "Paris eye" dot with the ring on the frog nickel silver
windings and fittings. (Not yet show in the photos, but
absolute beautiful Abalone pearl used in the underslides of the
frog.) So again, they work and at a great price!
For $1,196 (for nickel silver) How the French bows measure and
average weight: From tip, the butt end of the bow shaft, not
include the metal adjuster, 26 1/8" and weigh between 133-140 grams.
Not tip heavy, but incredibly balanced
Arcos Brasil German model bass bow:
Here, just like the French bows they make, we have the similar
German (high quality) 'V Schaeffer' modeled after the great HR
Pfretzchner maker that is so well loved in the German bow world.
You will have the same great workmanship, same materials and
everything. They measure, from tip to wood shaft end, not
including the long ebony adjuster, 27 1/4", (add in the ebony
adjuster, altogether, 29 1/2") The weight: They average
between 140-145 grams. Most importantly, for a German bow, in
general, this is a perfect weight.
