BB-007A A Contemporary Concept of Bowing Technique For The
Double Bass, by Frederick Zimmermann ( a good bowing
technique book!) |
|
|
BB-007EL The School of
Agility, A Technical Method of the Sale System for String
Bass, by Eugene Levinson (long time principal bass in NY
Philharmonic). This is a great book
(system) of fingerings and scales. A must have, as are the
O'brien, Grodner and Bradetich books.

BB-007B Double Bass Notebook by
Orin O'Brien. This is good book that Orin as put
together. A long time bass player with the NY
Philharmonic and very successful college bass professor.
The book includes several meaningful exercises, etudes,
explanations, excerpts as well as very practical advice
on practice, auditions etc... (If you are a serious bass
player, this book is an important and useful tool and
can be used for many years of study. A great book!

BB-007G A Double Bassist's
Guide to Refining Performance Practices by Murray
Grodner. This book, like the one above (O'brien)
is a MUST have book for any serious student or
professional embarking on a career of playing the double
bass. The book covers lots of intricate details
that one doesn't usually find in the typical music book.
Physical performance techniques, perfecting techniques
using scales, exercises, orchestral excerpts (very
detailed) plus essays and his thoughts on pursuing a
career in music. Too much to list here, so see the
page we have for
Murray Grodner. |

BB-007JB The Ultimate Challenge by
Jeff Bradetich
A great, new book that for any college student,
should be ordered with the above Grodner and
O'Brien books. Mr. Bradetich, who is an acclaimed
player and teacher, has written a very detailed and
challenging book. Not cheap, but worth the price!
Lots of things to learn and practice from this book, no
matter what level you are at. Here is descriptive
page that lists what is inside, see
Bradetich, The Ultimate Challenge. |
