K&K Upright Bass Fingerboard Pickup
If you play rockabilly bass or want to start doing so, it is hard to
amplify that true percussive (thump and pop) sound from the
fingerboard with the typical bass pickups available.
Most upright bass pickups are designed and geared towards picking up
the vibration of the plucked notes. Having just a regular
pickup (like a Realist or Fishman Full Circle) will not capture the
true percussiveness of the slapping against the fingerboard or the
snapping (upwards) of the higher strings.
So, if you already have a good pickup, but want to hear more of that
"thump", this is THE pickup for that! You are then planning to
buy the K&K Fingerboard Pickup and use your already owned 'other'
pickup, then you will either need to plug them separately (each
having a cord) into a two channel amp or preamp. Some preamps
(like the nice
Headway bass preamp that we sell can stay on the floor next to
your feet or up on your amplifier.) K&K has smaller preamp that is
meant to be attached to your bass (usually behind or in front of the
tailpiece) called the Dual Channel Pro and it is the same exact
preamp referred to as the Bass Master. You can plug both
pickups into the preamp then have the closeness to adjust volumes of
either pickup (or channel). The K&K Dual Channel Pro can also
be found at our
upright bass preamps page.
