It's a Small World After All, in the world of double bass gut strings.  Efrano (Austria) is the biggest and best gut string maker in the world and they actually make gut strings for other brands, like Lenzner.  (Actually, Efrano makes all the pure gut bass strings, while Lenzner does the actual winding of them.)  We now offer both Efrano and Lenzner.  What's the difference?

With Efrano, you will still get the same, great quality of workmanshipa and materials.  The Efranos tend to be a tad bit thicker in diameter and folks like that because they will have a slight (very slight) element of presence (more 'bass' thump!)

Players: before ever installing any new gut strings on your bass, you must first lubrivate the nut grooves (with a pencil) tip with graphite so that the new, clean string can slide through the groove easily.  Also, be sure to inspect the size of the groove.  On some basses, that have always just had steel strings, they diameter might be a tad narrow for the new gut, so you might first need to widen that groove. Again, this is for any brand gut (Pirastro, Lenzner, Efrano or Red Diamond).
